Pain and Pearls
Pain is my companion,
She’s come into my life.
Her face repels, yet beckons,
To enter inner strife.
How dare she bring disruption,
To shake my pleasant world!
I lose my grip, I stumble;
Away from faith I’m lured.
And yet she brings me treasures,
My voice cannot convey;
Set free to thrive in weakness,
God’s beauty she relays.
I cannot know when she’ll depart,
For I could never tell:
Yet priceless pearls are being formed,
And in my soul, I’m well.
